Ladybird Class have been learning about the life cycle of the butterfly. We were very excited when 5 tiny caterpillars arrived in our classroom. We observed them closely as they grew bigger, spun their chrysalis and emerged as beautiful butterflies. We kept caterpillar diaries so that we could record each part of it transformation.
We supported our learning by reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carl. At the end of the week we released the butterflies into the garden so that they could find a new home.
