World Book Day is finally here and the fun starts tomorrow morning on Thursday 5th March 2020. This year we will be exploring the book “The Day the Crayons Quit” by Drew Daywalt. Children, staff (and parents if they wish!) are encouraged to come dressed as either: A crayon, clothes in their favourite colour or any book character from any book.
World Book Day
For World Book Day every child is given a token that they can exchange for a World Book Day book. These books will be available in the lower hall at 3.15pm on World Book Day – Thursday 5th March – and also on Friday 6th March. Massive thanks to Rye Books of North Cross Road, East Dulwich for arranging this and making it so simple for Dog Kennel Hill children to get their hands on something new to read for free! Thank you to Kath Stathers for arranging this again this year, we really do appreciate it.
Ready, Steady, Read…
Have you handed in your money from the sponsored read yet? If not, please do so by Monday 2nd March, either to the office or your class teacher. Your child will then be given a voucher for half the amount raised to spend at the Usborne Book Fair on World Book Day on Thursday 5th March or Friday 6th March. Everyone is welcome at the fair, and the more money that is raised, either through the sponsored read or book sales at the fair, the more free books Usborne will give to the school.
A new home for pre-loved books
If you have children’s books at home that you no longer need, please bring them to school where they can refresh classroom reading corners and the school library. There is a collection box in school reception.
