This year, Beech class have been exploring the world of multiplication. We used arrays to show that multiplication is commutative ( 3 x 4 = 4 x 3), we used place value counters to show that if 3 x 4 = 12 then 3 x 40 = 120 and we used dienes to help us multiple 2-digit numbers by multiplying the different place parts ( 43 X 2 = 40 x 2 + 3 x 2).
