Welcome back- this half term is jam-packed with fantastic activities planned for the children! Next week, is Book Week, where we will be celebrating World Book Day on Thursday 6th of March! During the week, there are lots of book-related activities to take part in.
We are running 2 competitions this year! The first is to dress up a potato as your favourite character and the second is to take a photo of your child in a unique place to show their love of reading! An email has been sent out about the competition- all entries must be sent by Wednesday PM to our new competitions email address competitions@dkh.southwark.sch.uk Winners will be selected in EYFS, KS1 and KS2. They could be in with a chance to win a book voucher!
On Tuesday, children in KS1 and LKS2 will have a drama workshop about ‘Dragon Tales’ and on Friday, children in KS2 will have a ‘Macbeth’ themed drama workshop!
On Thursday, children are encouraged to dress up as a book character for World Book Day (Cedar will have the opportunity to do this on Wednesday as they are on a trip to the Courtauld Art Gallery all day). Afterschool, Friends of DKH and School Council will hold a Bake Sale and Book Swap in the playground 3:30-4:00 to raise money for new books for their classrooms. Hot chocolate will be served too!
Throughout the week, parents are invited to be ‘Secret Readers’ to come into their child’s class to read a short story, picture book or poem! An email was sent with details of how to sign up for this. We have already been unindicted with volunteers and we will be in touch to confirm your slots. We are looking to have more ‘Secret Reader’ sessions throughout the term!
