For music today, Mr Dixon has been teaching the children a line dance entitled “Alabama Gal”. Originally an Alabama Folk Song, “Alabama Gal” is sung while dancing in a Virginia Reel style. This folk dance originates in Scotland, but came over to America to become a English country dance. The dance was most popular from 1830 to 1890. This dance is when two lines of couples line up and face each other.
