This week we held ‘Internet Safety Day’ and completed some activities to explore this year’s theme ‘Too good to be true? Protecting yourself and others from scams online.’
In KS1, children explored what ‘personal details’ are, including full name, date of birth and address. We discussed how they should never share these details and should always seek a trusted adult if they are ever asked to provide these details. We also looked at a range of ‘pop ups’ that might appear if they are playing games or searching on the internet. For example, for prizes that might seem ‘too good to be true’.
In KS2, children delved deeper into what online scams children may come across. They were shown various scenarios and they discussed what they would do in each of the situations. Afterwards, they generated Internet Safety Guides. Some classes used the App Keynote to create presentations about how to protect themselves from online scams.
