In music this term, Years 3 and 4 children will be learning how to play the Recorder. A recorder is a woodwind musical instrument that you blow into to produce a sound. It was known as the English flute in the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries when it enjoyed tremendous popularity and was played by everyone from the rich to the poor.
Over the term, Mr. Dixon will be teaching the children firstly how to hold and blow the instrument correctly, then move onto how to achieve different sounds by covering the holes. Once the children have become masters of this instrument, we will record them playing some amazing music so please keep checking back for more blogs.
We took some pictures of the Year 4 group getting to grips with this new instrument, which can be seen in the gallery below. Please click on the thumbnails for a larger view.
