It’s Road Safety Week this week for Year 3 and 4 and the children have been venturing out accompanied by some amazing visitors from Southwark Council who have been teaching the children some very important points about “Understanding Road Safety”.
On their walks, the children have been approaching pedestrian crossings, Zebra crossings where they have been learning how to use these road safety features properly remembering to look both ways before crossing and to wait for the green “safe to cross” light where available.
The children have also been learning how to cross a road when there are no designated crossing areas available. In this instance, we use “The Green Cross Code“. This means that you STOP, LOOK, and LISTEN for vehicles before crossing making sure to look both ways as you cross moving as quickly and as safely across as you can WITHOUT RUNNING!
