By travelling back in time, Year 6 have been learning all about World War Two. During their English, History and Shared Reading lessons, the children have been developing their historical understanding of key events throughout this period.
They have also been planning and writing a non-chronological report developing their formal writing skills. In the coming weeks, the children will also be building their very own Anderson shelter!
In history, the children understood how propaganda was used throughout World War Two on both the Allied and Axis sides. They created their own propaganda posters to support the Allies in their fight for freedom.
The children were given an opportunity to create a story based around a picture of two soldiers. Ines, in Maple Class, produced an outstanding piece that portrayed a heart-felt relationship between these two soldiers – while one was slowly dying, the other was comforting him with kind words and memories of the past. Watch out for her in a Waterstones near you.
