This week we were visited by some of the fantastic year 12 scientists from Alleyns School who were working with Hazel Class this week. The class were conducting an experiment to test density. In this case, the children were calculating the density of different types of liquid such as oil, water, washing up liquid and syrup.
To measure the density of a liquid you do the same thing you would for a solid. Mass the fluid, find its volume, and divide mass by volume. To mass the fluid, weigh it in a container, pour it out, weigh the empty container, and subtract the mass of the empty container from the full container.
