It’s Wednesday at DKH Primary School, which means Yoga Day! We welcome back our Yoga Instructor, Kellie Ansell who is working in partnership with the PE and School Sports Network for her second week of a six week Yoga programme.
Today the theme of our Yoga sessions is “Managing Emotions”. Kellie has been asking the children to try and express different emotions using Yoga as a method of expression. The children have been deciding what the emotions should be in each case. We have seen emotions such as anger, joy, sadness, happiness, frustration, pain, fatigue and so on. Kellie has also shown children how Yoga can help them to manage their emotions effectively through controlled breathing, stretching and specific poses.
It was very interesting to see how the children chose to move their body and their choice of facial expressions to represent each emotion. We of course took some pictures for you to enjoy, which can be seen in the gallery below. Please click on the thumbnails below for a larger view.
